Recipe Link Up Party

It is that time of the week again- the weekly Scatter Girls link up time and this week we are linking up recipes! We want to see what you've been whipping up in the kitchen lately. I'm going to share with you all a recipe from my Grandma for Mexican Lasagna, enjoy and then don't forgot to link up!

Helen's Mexican Lasagna

-1 lb. hamburger

-1 pkg. taco seasoning

-1 (15 oz.) can chili beans

-1 (10 oz.) can Ro-Tel diced tomatoes and chilies

-3 large flour tortillas 

-2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

-Shredded lettuce 

-Chopped tomatoes

-Black olives

-Chopped onions

Brown hamburger. Add taco seasoning mix. Grind beans in a food processor and add to meat mixture. Add Ro-Tel tomatoes and chilies. Simmer meat mixture for 10 minutes. Spray a small round round casserole dish with Pam. Put a small amount of meat mixture on bottom of the casserole dish, sprinkle with cheddar cheese and layer with tortilla. Repeat this process until casserole dish is full. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. After removing from oven top with shredded lettuce, black olives, chopped onions and chopped tomatoes as desired (we skipped the black olives when I made it).

#1 Pick some kind of object to mark your squares. Examples: beans, pennies, smarties, wrapped candy, cereal, or any other small items
#2 Give each player a bingo card and markers. Have each player put a marker over their free space.
#3. Call out items from the call list [last page of download]. Each player will cover that item on their card with a marker. Once a player has 5 squares covered, in a row, horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, they call out bingo and win the game!

For the Caller:
You may play this game two different ways.
#1. You may call out the name of the item {ie house} OR
#2. You may call out any letter from the alphabet. There is a picture for each letter of the alphabet on all the cards {except the letter v and q}. Have each player mark the picture that start with that letter

Pinterest Link Up Party

Hello my name is Lauren and I have a serious addiction to Pinterest. You too? I'm not alone? Thank goodness! If you don't know what Pinterest is you may have been living under a rock for the last few months, but don't worry we will catch you up! Pinterest is in a sense an online app where you can virtually pin anything from the web that you find interesting, inspiring, funny or just something you may want to read for later. You can also follow others and re-pin their pins. Basically Pinterest is a great place to get ideas. Here are some examples of some items that are pinned.

Today's Photography Tip is  Shutter Speed.

A longer exposure will give you the effect of motion as shown with the flowing water photo below. The frozen water photo shows the water coming from the hose - frozen in time.  With a fast shutter speed you can do just that - freeze whatever your taking a photo of, even if it is in full motion.   This is what sports photographers excel at doing, freezing athletes in the air kicking a ball, or falling to the ground. The photo of the girls below shows then jumping and I caught them in mid air, CLICK!

You can see the comparison below between 1/4th of a second and 1/1000th of a second below.  The shutter speed set at 1/1000th is so fast it freezes motion.  Also remember with a slower shutter speed you might need a tripod because you can't hold the camera still enough with the slow shutter speed. 

Some tips from Digital Photography School

Shutter speed is measured in seconds – or in most cases fractions of seconds. The bigger the denominator the faster the speed (ie 1/1000 is much faster than 1/30).

In most cases you’ll probably be using shutter speeds of 1/60th of a second or faster. This is because anything slower than this is very difficult to use without getting camera shake. Camera shake is when your camera is moving while the shutter is open and results in blur in your photos.

If you’re using a slow shutter speed (anything slower than 1/60) you will need to either use a tripod or some some type of image stabilization (more and more cameras are coming with this built in).
